Luambe offers a remote safari in a National Park that is being restored through conservation.

The Lindsey et al. report of 2014 found Luambe National Park has the highest potential large mammal biomass per square kilometre of all Zambian National Parks! That means Luambe National Park should have the highest volume of large mammAals for its size in Zambia. Tragically, the 2014 report found the park only had a staggering 5% of its wildlife potential due to poaching and a lack of resources.

Luambe Camp & Conservation was formed to change this and over the last 6 years, has quietly been achieving amazing results. Visiting Luambe is both a remote and private Luangwa safari and gives guests the chance to see and participate in various conservation activities being done on the ground.

“Luambe is being restored to the Luangwa as it used to be 40 years ago.”

Stay in a Luangwa bushcamp with everything you need

Luambe Camp complements a unique Luangwa safari by delivering comfortable safari tent accommodation on the banks of the Luangwa River. In the dry season, hundreds of hippo gather below camp and the resident leopard are almost nightly visitors to the camp. The 4 en-suite tents overlooking the river are spacious with a focus on allowing guests the chance to feel like they have escaped to a lost world.

Features of Luambe Camp which you need to know

At Luambe Camp, the focus is on offering a really comfortable safari experience which complements the conservation work we do. In short, it offers everything that you need and nothing that you don’t! Great guiding, a superb location, warm, home style meals and comfy beds all make for an accommodation experience that brings the safari and conservation work to life.

As Luambe Camp & Conservation is the only operator in Luambe National Park, the hallmark of the entire experience is the privacy and remoteness. We are always doing something of interest in the park and this can range from an incredible sleep out to tagging vultures. One day we might need to check the camera traps for our leopard study but then in season, we may start the day with coffee at the carmine bee-eater colony. Your stay in Luambe can be tailored around your interest and whichever activities are available at the time.
